AMI promotes Montessori's key ideas about creating a culture of peace by working on creating 'peaceful environments' where children can experience peace daily at home, their schools and communities. Last year, AMI joined the International Coordination of the UN Decade on Peace and Non-Violence for Children of the World's Board.

We call upon AMI members to their share stories, photos, artwork, music, short films, etc. about their initiatives to support this important campaign to promote a culture of peace. It's already begun to create a multiplier effect. Italy has integrated a culture of peace into its public school educational programs. Other governments are considering incorporating the idea into their educational curricula, particularly in some post-conflict countries.

The initiatives will be shared at the 3rd Peace Salon in Paris at the Museum of Science and Industry, May 30 - 2 June, 2008 and with AMI members at a later date.
