Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) is an NGO which works to champion the human rights of the child, bringing Montessori education to children, adults, teachers and governments across the world. Founded by the pioneering scientist and educator, Maria Montessori, AMI is the globally recognised authority on Montessori education and research, applying the authentic Montessori principles in education and humanitarian work.

AMI works across the world, collaborating with Affiliated Societies and training centres to deliver Montessori education.

AMI seeks a Director of Training Centre Evolution and Growth for the Directorate of Bold Goal Implementation, to lead strategy, communications, and development to promote AMI training in the United States. This is a leadership position for an experienced professional with a record of success building infrastructures and systems that grow programs that benefit children.

This is a new position to advance our bold goal to triple our number of trainees to increase Montessori social impact in the U.S. The ideal candidate is a natural leader who can facilitate and mobilize a network of partners in pursuit of a coordinated growth strategy. S/he has extensive marketing, communications, and development expertise to offer that will help inform AMI’s strategy and is ready to learn deeply about AMI’s offering to children and the world to help us bring that offer to more people.

Support AMI training centers in the U.S. to promote their services collaboratively, as a network, to build system strength, develop business, and capture economies of scale:

  • Evidence of history of delivering on big goals and starting a new venture.
  • Ability to build enduring relationships and maintain boundaries.
  • Prizes transparency and clear, forthright communications.
  • Reputation for fairness, respectful, transparent interactions, and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Habit of asking for help and being ready to learn.
  • Ability with technology as a management, communications, and operations tool (i.e., “tech savvy”).
  • Experience of evolving sustainable organizational structures and systems that integrate diverse settings.
  • Evidence history of managing change.
  • Must enjoy travel and people of all kinds, and be committed to Montessori education as a means for social change.

Marketing & Communications Strategy

  • Facilitate key stakeholders in development and implementation of a comprehensive marketingcommunications strategy.
  • Experience in national marketing, communications, and evaluation for related, nonprofit missions.
  • Proven record of success raising awareness and driving action.
  • Experience managing networked marketing to coordinate multiple voices, venues, and channels, and developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), tools, trainings, or other supports to increase organizational effectiveness.
  • Message development experience – evidence of clear thinking and speaking.
  • Habit to communicate productive and actionable information consistently and thoroughly.


Oversee the raising of funds for sustainability and establish fundraising targets for the future which may include amongst other things, trainee scholarships.

  • Experience developing and implementing a strategic fundraising plan.
  • Interpersonal style that conveys trustworthiness, competence.
  • Ability to talk with anyone, anywhere, including in front of national audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract interest, engage donors, raise funds, and cultivate a donor network.


This position is open to applicants on a part-time or full-time basis and is not geographically determined. The initial contract is for a two-year period.

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 full-time equivalent.
