André Shearer

André Shearer is the co-founder and current Chairman of Cape Classics, a US-based wine importer that specializes in bringing South African and French wines to the United States. He served as the CEO of the company for 29 years. Additionally, Shearer is the founder and Chairman of the Indaba Foundation, a non-profit based in New York. In 2015, he was honoured with the Desmond Tutu Phelophepa Achievement Award for his achievements in the wine industry and for introducing the Indaba Foundation. The foundation focuses on Early Childhood Development (ECD) in the Cape Winelands of South Africa and invests in teacher training at the Indaba Institute, which is a world leader in this field. Shearer has a vision of constructing the world’s first University of the Child.
