Listed 30 April 2021

Abaarso Network (AN) is an American nonprofit system of schools serving local students in Somaliland, East Africa. Our high school, Abaarso School, was featured on 60 Minutes with Anderson Cooper when our students became the first from their country in decades to matriculate to US universities including MIT, Harvard, Yale, Brown, and Columbia.

AN is also comprised of:

  • Barwaaqo University for Women, a residential Montessori Teachers College
  • Kaabe Schools, a group of K-12 Montessori day-schools

Barwaaqo University is seeking a Montessori Teacher Instructor to help train young Somali women as Montessori Guides (primary/elementary).

The instructor would live on Barwaaqo’s campus with a team of other foreign teachers.

Kaabe Schools are seeking Montessori Guides (both primary/elementary).

These positions are located in the city of Hargeisa at our new Montessori day-schools, the first ever in the country. AN is an American nonprofit system that offers pay
commensurate with the market, a round-trip flight, room & board, travel health insurance, and year-long work visas.

AN schools are located in Somaliland, an autonomous but unrecognized country in the Horn of Africa. Somaliland declared its independence from Somalia in 1991 and has enjoyed peace and a free, democratic society for the 30 years since.

This is an opportunity to work with some of the most disadvantaged students in the world and to help build the largest nonprofit Montessori system in the developing world.
