The Institut Supérieur Maria Montessori (ISMM) is a French non-profit organization founded on February 25, 1998 to promote Montessori education through the training of education professionals.

It includes a training organization accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and two Montessori schools. It is a founding member of the Fondation Montessori de France.

The Institute trains more than 400 people per year on its four sites in France: Nogent-sur-Marne, Lyon and Montpellier and in its application school, the École Montessori de Paris (Paris 9th). It delivers the Montessori International Teacher Diploma as well as the Montessori International Assistant Certificate, recognized in Montessori schools throughout the world.

It welcomes nearly 190 children in its two schools, the École Montessori de Paris (Paris 9th) and the Enfants du Monde Montessori school in Montreuil.

Part of the activity of the Institute is carried out through subsidiaries or through partnerships.

The activities of ISMM are carried out by a team of 40 employees composed of:

  • Trainers trained by the Association Montessori Internationale and training assistants;
  • AMI trained educators and assistants;
  • Administrative and technical teams;
  • Mission or project managers.

In view of the retirement of its executive director and founder, the Institut Supérieur Maria Montessori is looking for its future executive director.

The Executive Director will have the following duties and responsibilities:

Under the authority of the President of the association, he/she will be responsible for implementing the strategy defined by the Institute's Board of Directors.

To this end, the Executive Director will take on, depending on his/her profile, all or parts of the following missions:

  • Ensure the implementation of the Montessori education according to the standards of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) in the various activities of the organization and its development (new activities, partnerships).
  • Represent the Institute and the Montessori world, in particular with public authorities, funders and the Montessori ecosystem.
  • Lead the activities of the Institute ensuring their impact, profitability and sustainability and manage the governance.
  • Develop the Institute and the Montessori world by investing in new fields (early childhood, the elderly, international, research…), by establishing partnerships and by making the Institute a reference for research in education.

Depending on his/her profile, the Executive Director will be able to pursue his/her own training or educational activities.

Searched Profile

  • Master's degree, grande école diploma or equivalent level;
  • AMI Teacher Diploma, AMI Trainer certification a plus;
  • Demonstrated experience as a Montessori educator or in an executive management position;
  • At least 10 years of experience in the Montessori world;
  • Fluency in French and English required, another language is a plus.

Employment Conditions

Full time permanent contract.
Position to be filled no later than December 31, 2022.
Salary: to be negotiated according to profile.
French collective agreement for training organizations.
