Why the Time is Ripe for an Education Revolution

American classrooms use a teacher-centred model of instruction that doesn't align with how children naturally learn. This article examines the science and origins of this model and proposes three modifications that have proven problematic over time. The article argues that education is due for a paradigm shift away from teacher-centred learning and towards highly structured environments that support self-construction through limited free choice. A proven model is described, and a prescription is offered for bringing about a paradigm shift in educational practice.
