How many new ESF projects have started in the past years?

Educateurs sans Frontières is about innovative application of Montessori principles and practices to serve more children and families. This builds on the understanding of human development and also extends beyond the classroom. EsF entails a large network of changemakers, all working for social impact. This ranges from work in prisons to support young children and mothers, nomadic Montessori schools in Kenya, and Montessori for Disability, Dementia and Ageing. What is featured on the website is meant to inspire, but is in no way a definitive list.

There is so much incredible work happening around the world where Montessori principles and practice empower communities and we always love to learn more about this. Additionally, as EsF initiatives focus on building capacity at community level, they are long-term with a focus on quality implementation. For example the Peter Hesse Foundation is celebrating 40 years. There are also exciting developments when it comes to Community Rooted Education, an EsF programme which offers a different approach to teacher training at community level, which has significant reach in India, South Africa and Tanzania. All this to say that there is no strict count or definition of EsF initiatives, as we aim to offer inspiration, guidance and a network for those committed to Montessori for social impact.
