在兒童生命的最初三年,真正發生的重要事件,不只有那些可以被看見的發展里程碑。翻身、爬行、站立、行走、開口說話,令人欣喜若狂;然而,在這些外顯能力的背後,還有一段更隱形、卻更深遠的內在建構悄悄發生。 兒童從被抱起、被餵養、被安撫開始,隨著動作能力的發展,逐漸邁入自己行走、自己選擇、自己參與生活。這不僅是一段從依賴到自主的發展歷程,也是一段在與成人的關係中發展自我的旅程。 許多人誤以為依戀與獨立是彼此對立的:好像依戀太深,兒童就不夠獨立;太早鼓勵獨立,又可能失去安全感。然而,從兒童發展的角度來看,真正穩固的獨立,從來不是建立在切斷關係之上,而是建立在足夠安全的關係之中。兒童在在被理解、被回應、被接納的經驗裡,慢慢形成對世界的基本信任;也正因如此,他才有力量離開成人的懷抱,開始走向世界。 若從中文字的角度來看,「依戀」二字本身便蘊含著深厚的智慧。「依」象徵著一個人趴在另一個人的胸前,有依靠的意味,帶著身體上的靠近與支撐;「戀」象徵著絲線緊密纏繞,有內在牽繫的意思,同時「戀」也帶著言與心,表示著語言的傳遞與情感連結。 因此,依戀不只是嬰幼兒對照顧者的需要而已,它更是一種透過身體接觸、語言傳遞與情感回應所建立起來的生命連結。這種連結並不抽象,它發生在日常之中:在哭泣時被抱起,在飢餓時被餵養,在換尿布、洗澡、哺乳與擁抱的每一個時刻,被成人告知即將發生什麼事,這是一種溫柔而有尊嚴地照護模式。 Montanaro 博士曾提到,擁抱、哺乳與雙手照料,正是嬰兒早期情感紐帶形成的重要基礎。這讓我們重新理解,照護並不只是滿足生理需求而已,更是一種情感傳遞。成人如何抱兒童、如何對兒童說話、如何在照護中表達尊重,都在形塑兒童對自己身體的感受,也在塑造他對人際關係最早的理解。 當兒童在一次次被回應中感受到「我是值得被照顧的、我是被理解的」,他內在最初的安全感便開始形成。 一個有安全基地的兒童,他會更願意往外在世界探索。當他從躺著到翻身、從匍匐到爬行、從扶站到行走,這些動作上的進展不只是肌肉控制的成熟,更代表他正在一點一滴地建立「我能」的感覺。尤其是在五、六個月之後,兒童開始更為主動地接觸世界:伸手取物、抓握食物、自己嘗試進食、參與日常活動。這些看似零碎的行為,其實正是自我建構的重要材料。 在這裡,我們需要理解一個關鍵原則: 環境支持行為,行為累積能力,能力形塑信念。 兒童不是先有抽象的自信,才願意去做;而是在可以行動的環境中反覆嘗試,才慢慢建構出能力,並由能力的累積形成對自己的信念。當兒童有合手的小湯匙、能拿到的鞋子、適合他身高的桌椅、可以參與的真實生活活動,他就比較可能發展出自己吃飯、自己穿脫、自己收拾、自己幫忙的行為。這些行為重複之後,能力逐漸出現;能力穩定之後,兒童內在便會形成一種深層信念: 我可以,我是有力量的,我能成為生活的參與者。 這也提醒我們,許多成人眼中的「行為問題」,其實不一定是兒童本身的問題,而可能是環境與成人的回應沒有預備好。當兒童想自己吃,卻總是被餵;想自己走,卻總是被抱;想探索,卻總是被阻止,他內在原本用來建構能力的生命力量,就可能轉化成哭鬧、抗拒與挫折。 因此,支持獨立,並不是要求兒童提早長大,也不是把兒童推離成人,而是讓環境與成人的方式更適合他的發展。當兒童能在安全的關係裡嘗試,在適合的環境裡行動,在真實的生活中參與,他便能循序漸進地從被照顧者,成為合作者,再慢慢成為一個能為生活做出貢獻的人。 到了十八個月到三歲,兒童開始頻繁地說「不要」與「自己來」。這常常令成人感到挫折,甚至以為兒童在挑戰權威。然而,從發展的角度來看,這並不只是單純的不配合,而是意志正在形成,自我正在浮現。 兒童開始想區分「我」與「你」,也開始試著理解:我能不能決定?我能不能影響這個世界?此時,成人若只把「不」視為反抗,就容易用壓制回應;但若能把它視為人格建構的一部分,便會明白,兒童真正需要的不是更強的控制,而是清楚、穩定、尊重的界限。 界限並不是否定兒童的意志,而是幫助兒童把意志放在可以合作、可以與他人共處的秩序之中。當成人能夠溫和而堅定地說:「你可以自己穿鞋,我會等你;但我們不能把鞋子丟向別人。」兒童便在其中同時經驗到兩件事:我的意願被尊重,而世界也有需要共同遵守的界限。 因此,從依戀到獨立,不是一條切斷關係的路,而是一條在關係在逐步成形的路。兒童先透過回應式照護建立基本信任;再透過可行動的環境發展能力與自信;最後在被尊重的界限中,學習進行選擇與負起責任。 這整個過程的核心,始終不是技巧,而是關係。 回應式照護之所以重要,正因為它不是一種短期方法,而是人類情感發展最根本的起點。兒童在生命早期如何被抱、被看、被理解、被回應,會成為他理解世界、理解自己、理解他人的底色。成人每一次穩定而有溫度的回應,都在對兒童說:你是重要的;你的感受有意義;這個世界可以信任。 而一個曾被這樣對待的兒童,更有可能在未來成為一個既獨立,也能連結;既有能力,也有溫度的人。 這正是0–3歲人格建構最深的意義:不是把兒童訓練成早熟的小大人,而是在關係中,幫助一個人慢慢成為他自己。 馬毓鴻 Nicky Ma, AMI 0–3 培訓師

我们常常看到这样的画面:一个孩子可以熟练地滑动屏幕,却不知道如何挖开泥土;他可以认识很多卡通形象,却叫不出身边树木的名字。他们的手指在屏幕上轻快地舞蹈,却很少触摸过树皮的纹理、花瓣的柔软。 这就是我们面对的现实。今天的孩子们,比以往任何一代人都更早地进入数字世界,却可能更晚地、也更少地走进自然世界。 面对这样的变化,我们通常会怎么做呢?我们可能会安排一些"自然活动",或者组织几次户外教学。这些当然很好,但蒙台梭利在近一百年前,就给了我们一个更深的提醒。 她在《发现儿童》中写道:"孩子需要真实地生活在自然之中,而不仅仅是了解关于自然的知识。" 这句话,值得我们细细品味。 我们常常以为,让孩子看看自然纪录片,读读关于动植物的绘本,就是在让他们接触自然。但蒙台梭利告诉我们,这远远不够。儿童与自然的关系,不是靠知识建立的,而是靠生活、靠体验、靠呼吸之间真实的联结。 蒙台梭利提出了一个很重要的概念,叫"吸收性心智"。她说,孩子的心智不像我们成人那样,先接收信息再理解。他们是在直接吸收环境中的一切——用手触摸,用身体感知,用整个生命去体验。环境不是他们生活的背景,环境塑造了他们自己。 当我们把孩子放在自然里,会发生什么呢? 泥土的湿润与粗糙,流水的清凉与律动,风的声音,树叶的气味——这些丰富而真实的感官体验,同时唤醒了孩子大脑中无数的神经网络。而在注意力被不断切割的数字时代,自然提供了一个特别珍贵的礼物:一种缓慢的、沉浸的、深度的专注。这是任何屏幕都无法给予的。 蒙台梭利曾经观察到一件很有意思的事。她说,在城市里,孩子走一小段路就会喊累。但同样一个孩子,到了乡间,却可以走很远很远,不知疲倦。为什么会这样?因为自然在召唤他——每一片叶子都在邀请他观察,每一块石头都在等待他翻看,每一个小虫都在吸引他停留。自然激发了孩子内在的、源源不断的兴趣。 她还说过一句很深刻的话:"文明之人,不过是安于牢笼的囚徒。” 我们怕孩子淋雨、怕他们弄脏、怕他们受伤。我们关紧窗户,把孩子保护在室内。可是,当我们这样做的时候,我们是否也在无意中,把孩子与那个真正滋养生命的源头隔开了? 那么,蒙台梭利是怎么做的呢? 在她设计的"儿童之家"里,花园不是装饰,而是一个有生命的环境。她提出了一些原则,我想和大家分享: 第一,花园要符合孩子的尺度。不是要多大、多气派,而是让孩子能够认识这里的每一株植物,让它成为孩子可以真正拥有的地方。 第二,让孩子做真实的工作。种植、浇水、除草、收获——这些不是游戏,而是有意义的劳动。当孩子看到自己种下的种子破土而出,看到自己的劳动换来了果实,那种满足感,是任何奖励都无法替代的。 第三,花园要有实际的价值。蒙台梭利鼓励种蔬菜,不只是种花。当孩子把自己收获的青菜端上餐桌,他会真切地感受到:我和这个世界是相连的,我的行动带来了真实的结果。 她还特别提到一个细节:我们以为孩子会对播种最感兴趣,但她观察到,孩子其实对收获更加着迷。当果实呈现在眼前,孩子自然会追问:它是怎么长出来的?体验带来了好奇,好奇带来了学习。这才是最自然的学习方式。 更重要的是,照料生命,会唤醒孩子内心的责任感。 当一株植物因为忘记浇水而枯萎,孩子会第一次真正明白:我的行为,会影响到另一个生命。蒙台梭利说,很少有比这更好的教育,能让孩子学会远见和责任心。这种从生命与生命的互动中生长出来的品质,是任何说教都无法替代的。 今天,当我们面对数字时代的挑战时,蒙台梭利的这些洞见,显得格外珍贵。 屏幕可以呈现信息,但它无法呈现雨后泥土的气息,无法呈现蝴蝶翅膀在阳光下微微颤动的光泽,无法呈现四季流转时光影悄然变化的美。这些,只能在真实的世界里,用真实的感官去体验。 所以,对于我们每一位教育者、每一位父母来说,需要问自己的,不是"我们有没有给孩子安排自然活动",而是更深入的问题—— 我们的户外环境,真的是属于孩子的吗? 孩子有没有机会,在自然中做真正有意义的事? 我们有没有给孩子足够的时间,让他们自己去与自然建立关系? 蒙台梭利曾经写下这样一句话:“必须为孩子提供与自然接触的机会,让他们去理解和欣赏自然中的秩序、和谐与美。" 自然,一直都在那里,从未离开。 今天的问题,不是孩子是否愿意回到自然, 而是我们——我们这些陪伴孩子成长的人—— 是否愿意打开那扇门, 允许他们走出去, 让自然,再次召唤他们。 让自然召唤孩子吧。不是作为一项特别的活动,而是作为他们日常生活中,最自然、最本质的一部分。 Angela 尚真真
