Listed 6 July 2026To AMI Members,
As a member of the Association Montessori Internationale, you will be aware that AMI is governed by an International Board, nominated by its members, interviewed and selected by the Board Nominating Committee and voted on at the AMI Annual General Meeting. The Board plays an important role in the strategic direction of the Association.
The AGM in April 2027 will be required to approve 1 new candidate for the Board, which due to the current composition of the Board, must be an AMI Diploma Holder or a certified AMI Trainer (By-law 3b).
The Board Member who is due to retire in May 2027, having faithfully served AMI for the last eight years and completed two four-year terms of office, is Jennifer Shields.
As Jennifer Shields concludes her term on the Board, we extend our sincere gratitude for her dedicated service and leadership. We therefore now invite nominations for candidates who will help continue advancing AMI’s mission.
The applicant for this position must hold an AMI Diploma at any level from 0-18 or be an AMI Trainer 0-18 or Trainer at Montessori for Dementia and Ageing, Montessori School Leadership or Montessori Sports. The Board is hoping to augment its current expertise and is open to receiving nominations from candidates with a wide variety of backgrounds and skill sets.
Candidates should be able to show demonstrable commitment to the global work of AMI or other educational or humanitarian organisations and must be a member of AMI. We are attaching the position profiles for the Diploma Holder vacancy together with nomination forms. We hope that you may know of someone to nominate whom you feel would be a valuable addition to the Board. A brief introduction to the current AMI Board can be found on our Website.
Nomination Procedure
Each nomination must be supported by at least one legal body, (i.e., Affiliated Society or Affiliated Training Centre), or two Board members, or 25 individual AMI members (By-law 3f). Nominations must be marked for the attention of the Nominating Committee and be received by: Thursday, 27August 2026 at [email protected].
The nominator must be a member of AMI and have personal knowledge of, and vouch for, the candidate that they are proposing.
We thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from you.
