Nanny, Portlaoise

Location: Portlaoise, Co. Laois, Ireland
Position Type: Full-Time, Live-Out
Start Date: ASAP (to allow handover with current nanny)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am to 6pm
Role: Sole charge

A warm and welcoming family is seeking a kind, professional nanny with a  Montessori approach to care for three children (ages 8, 6 and 4). The home is in a country setting where the children love the outdoors, farming and  nature.

Responsibilities

• Provide a nurturing, respectful, child-centred environment
• Support learning and development through Montessori-inspired activities: reading, music, arts & crafts, practical life, outdoor exploration
• School drop-offs/collections and transport to after-school activities (driver essential; family car available during the day)
• Support with homework (fluent English required)
• Prepare healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for the family (good cooking skills essential)
• Nursery duties: children’s laundry and keeping bedrooms, play areas and kitchen tidy

When the youngest child starts school (September 2026) duties will expand to include light housekeeping / household support during school hours to help maintain a calm, organised and happy home environment. Weekly professional cleaner already in place (no deep cleaning required).

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 2 years’ professional childcare experience
• Montessori qualification highly valued
• Up-to-date First Aid
• Excellent references
• Energetic, creative, proactive and pet-friendly (family dog in home)
• Driver’s licence required

This is a long-term, rewarding position for a nanny who enjoys fostering independence, creativity and curiosity.
