Akkriti Bhatt
Akkriti Bhatt is a legal professional turned development sector advocate with a deep commitment to education for equity. With a master’s degree from King’s College London and six years of experience in the corporate legal sector with India's leading law firm like Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, she made a purposeful transition to the development space—fulfilling a lifelong passion for education equity.
During this transition, she was drawn to the work of the Meraki Foundation, where she witnessed the transformative impact of early education in shaping not only school outcomes but also lifelong opportunities, particularly for children in under-resourced communities. At Meraki, she collaborated with UNDP and state governments across three Indian states, leading initiatives to strengthen early learning environments at scale. Her most impactful work was in her home state, Uttarakhand, where she built strong partnerships with government officials. Over three years, this led to the signing of an MoU and the successful implementation of three programs, benefiting 20,000 publicly run preschool centres.
Her journey as a mother which started in 2023 has made her even more passionate about education for equity and to building a strong future for children like hers. Both as a professional and now as mother she deeply resonates with Maria Montessori and AMI's vision for a thriving future through a thriving child.
As a regional program coordinator, she hopes that through her work she can contribute significantly to increasing access to Montessori and education for children, caregivers and educators globally!
