Vale Nimal Vaz

We remember with deep gratitude and love Nimal Vaz and the life that she devoted to children, adults and genuine service through Montessori. 

What an exceptional journey she had, and what deep internalised knowledge of Montessori principles defined Nimal’s life and legacy. How many of us can say that they were brought up under the wings of a close collaborator of Maria Montessori, her aunt, Lena Wickramaratne, and then followed a life of service passing on that sense of mission to new generations? 

Nimal left a beautiful gift to all the children and students who had the good fortune of having her in their lives. Her legacy stands firm with the SIMS training centre in Arizona continuing to grow, and through the many insightful articles she authored and the two NAMTA videos that demonstrated the beauty of her school’s prepared environments: The Child in Nature and Nurturing the Spirit.
